I’ve always done a bit of running, my first memory of a race is running the Kerridge climb at the Rainow Church Fete when I was 12, it was a lot easier to run straight up Kerridge when I only weighed 6 stone! I ran mainly to keep fit for the various team sports I played, rather than loving running. Then in 2012 my first son was born and travelling around the country playing lacrosse or disappearing for 8 hours to play a cricket match didn’t fit any more. But I could get out and run at any time, I soon acquired a new-fangled Garmin watch, it was huge and took about 10 minutes to locate satellites but that is what started me of running ‘properly’. In 2014 I was luckily able to relocate from Hertfordshire back home to Bollington and I joined the Macclesfield Harriers (Booo!), this introduced me to all the local fell races, there are so many great local events. We live in such an amazing area for running, my favourite route is running through Harrop woods and Hegerow, or heading up into the Goyt Valley.
