I started running in May 2018 when I joined the Bollington Harriers’ Couch to 5K. My first race was the Bollington 10K (August 18) and in the year that followed I ran the Wilmslow Half Marathon, followed a few days later by 10k in the Ethiopian Highlands (March 19) and the Gritstone Grind 55K (September 19). I have always loved the outdoors but running has enabled me to experience nature in new ways and venture further faster. My love is long distance trail running – planning new routes, poring over maps, discovering new trails, the challenge of changing terrains and going on epic adventures. Running has made me acutely aware of my body’s needs in terms of nutrition, hydration and rest to power and heal it. Running has helped me to discover strength and endurance that I never knew I had. It has also introduced me to an incredible community of wonderful, inspiring people that I feel immensely grateful to be part of - thank you all. I am a relative novice to running but it’s now a big part of my life.
